The large, northeastern province of Coldwell Reach, named for Lord Coldwell who secured the region centuries ago with his armies, is a mix of climate. The northern edge starkly faces the Griff Mountains and its sharp peaks bringing cold air and springmelt down to create a microclimate of late winter into the summer months. Further south and east the sub-temperate weather can be a mix of warm days and cold nights, colder the further northeast one goes.
Coldwell Reach has a spine of civilization along it’s central lands like a spear reaching toward the barbarian lands with Var Thaalun, Duunthal, and the fortified city of Calbut. The tip of the spear id Coldwell Castle – a fortified bulwark built into the mountain pass as an early warning to Calbut and as a mining and trade hub for merchants coming to and from the northern lands via Thunder Pass.
